Curator of Education - Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts
In Montgomery, I introduced new ideas for the 5th grade tour curriculum program, created a docent website to supplement training, started a monthly adult book club, and played a key role in planning major family day events and adult programs. Continuing with investigations into technology applications, I installed computer touch screens in the family interactive gallery ARTWORKS, including a touchscreen interactive about prints in the Museum's collection, and several iPad interactive kiosks for two special exhibitions. As an expansion of the Museum's outreach efforts, I introduced a new Artist in Residence program, a special partnership with Wares Ferry Road Elementary that used Visual Thinking Strategies and studio lessons to promote critical thinking, oral communication skills, and artistic processes in a variety of media. Beyond museum projects, I led a panel discussion at the annual American Alliance of Museums conference addressing technology needs for docent training, and a presentation at the Alabama Museums Association exploring iBooks Author as a new tool for educators.
