LEADERSHIP

As lead administrator and curator of education at the National Law Enforcement Museum, Taft Museum of Art, Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, Columbus Museum, Hunter Museum of American Art, and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, I established the vision and direction for the education department and new initiatives to reach broader audiences.

NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT MUSEUM

Director of Education
(2017-present)

As Director of Education, I established the foundation for the education department, in preparation for the Museum's grand opening on October 13, 2018. My job included defining staff roles and responsibilities, developing public programs (adult and family programs), school tours and workshops, and partnerships with law enforcement and community organizations. I also redesigned the volunteer program to opportunities that went beyond event volunteers to included educators visitor experience volunteers who assist museum visitors on a daily basis. The most significant project I worked on was the Affinity Project, a collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders who worked in tandem with the museum to strengthen the relationships between police and citizens.

TAFT MUSEUM OF ART

Director of Education

As lead administrator for the education department, I established the vision and direction of the education department, including expanding and redefining staff positions to increase effectiveness in the development and implementation of public programs. I created two positions out of the Manager of Public Programs to include a Manager of Family Programs and Manager of Adult Programs. I also hired an administrative assistant to maintain office efficiency and to assist with the docent volunteer program. My most significant contribution included a redesign of the Duncanson Artist-in-Residence program, a 30 year program that involved the participation of the Duncanson Society (advisory committee members) and contemporary artists across the nation. As a member of the leadership team, I played an important role in planning the museum's expansion (anticipated for 2020) and implementing a new strategic plan to enhance the visitor experience.

MONTGOMERY MUSEUM

Curator of Education
(2010-2015)

As Director of Education, I supervised five full time staff members and directed K-12 tours and workshops, after school programs, teen councils, monthly and annual family programs, and new initiatives like the Ekphrasis Book Club and docent training website. I supervised the Museum's family interactive gallery, ARTWorks, and leveraged the use of new technologies to enhance computer interactive content for family audiences, special exhibition content, and the redesign of the Museum's new website.

COLUMBUS MUSEUM

Curator of Education
​(2007-2010)

As Curator of Education at the Columbus Museum, I lead all education initiatives for the museum, including the supervision of three full-time staff, fifty volunteers, and all school and public programs. I was the principle organizer of all adult programs, including symposia, opening lectures, gallery talks, and the annual distinguished lecture series. Other responsibilities included the supervision of the non-circulating library, the education resource center, and the family interactive gallery. As a member of the leadership team, I played an instrumental role in the five year strategic plan and the redesign of the family interactive gallery.

HUNTER MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART

Associate Curator of Education
​(2005-2007)

I joined the Hunter Museum Art during the construction phase of the brand new west wing designed by Randall Stout. My role was to work closely with the Director to implement plans for the Museum's new strategic direction, which was to make the museum accessible to new and broader audiences. In preparation of the Museum's grand re-opening in April 2005, I was instrumental in forging partnerships with other organizations to leverage the resources they brought to the museum in terms building new audiences and expanding approaches to education and engagement. Partnerships included after school programs with the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Urban League, summer camps with Girls, Inc, the Discover Museum, and the Tennessee Aquarium, and collaborations with community leaders, educators, and artists.
